How Diversity Contributes to the Creative Economy
Joe Watson presented an energetic discussion on why diversity is a key to global success and although it is a challenge, we cannot let the challenge overwhelm us.
Watson identified something he calls, “conscious incompetence.” He defined this state as one where a person faces a question they don’t have an answer for and don’t know how to find an answer for. He noted that the challenges of building a diverse workforce present people with the paralyzing experience of “conscious incompetence.” However, as Watson noted, demographic shifts in minority populations demand action. "We cannot be shy," he said, in dealing with these momentous paradigm shifts.
